Welcome to Lumindt City!

Fog meets the rooftops in the crowded, bustling city of Lumindt, built upon the highest reaches of a plateau. Fields dot the plains below, grains and vegetables, livestock and wood all grown to supply the city above. The city itself has remained almost entirely isolated from the rest of the world for many years, its isolation occasionally broken by passing nomads that stop to rest in the small farming village at the base of the plateau, and travel the worn paths to the city above to trade trinkets and bring news of the outside world.

Once ruled by the benevolent King Bremmon and his beautiful wife, Queen Finn, the city prospered and grew more and more every day, reaching further to the sky and further into the mind. But tragedy befell the royal family, not long ago, leaving only their son, the young Prince Edwin, as the sole successor of the throne. Barely thirteen years of age, he was forced to take responsibility of the city and its citizens, ruling them as the Child King they fondly named him. Its citizens, from the wealthy to the downtrodden, live in peace with one another, but though they loved the Child King, they did not trust his judgments as they did his parents. He encountered difficulty day after day, always struggling to keep their loyalty, a feat only accomplished thanks to the city's isolation.

Despite all reasoning, the city of Lumindt has taken a turn in a new direction in its discoveries and inventions. While the rest of the world progressed toward fossil fuels and outward expansion, Lumindt's inventors became inspired by the wind that howls down the streets and through the small alleys between buildings. The Royal Inventor, a man that goes only by the name Sid, pioneered a new source of energy: steam power. After encountering a major problem with the city's water disposal, Sid spent days in his massive laboratory in the plateau bedrock beneath the castle. All manner of bangs and crashes could be heard throughout the castle, until the day he emerged to gather those of importance and unveil his solution. By superheating the used, dirty water, he harnessed the steam created and used it to power massive machines. It didn't take a genius to see the potential of steam power, and soon Sid had enough work to last him the rest of his natural life.
